Cat mosquito repellantQ: Are there any flea and tick treatments that also repell mosquitos for cats. i know it is k-9 advantix for dogs. can you give this to your cats in a smaller dose? A: The ingredient used to control mosquitoes in dogs is potentially deadly to cats even in small doses. there is no mosquito control product for cats.

Flea, and heart worm controlQ: Is it ok to use both "interceptor" and "program" monthly. for example, i would use the interceptor on the first of the month and the program on the 15th of the month. i want to know if there is any harm that will come to the pet using the combination. the dog is a 5 month old heeler mix, weighing 22 lbs. frank A: It should not create any problems, but may i suggest switching to a single combination product like sentinel.

Tape wormsQ: We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. the cats are never outside. 2 of the dogs have been around a dog that very possibly has fleas and lives with 7 or so other cats. this "other" dog also likes to catch mice. our dogs have been known to eat droppings in the litter box, however, we also have corrected that with a new type of box and a gate on the room it is in so the dogs can't get to it, but the cats can. our groomer found tapeworms in one of the dogs 2 times now and both times we immediately treated all of our animals. since the last treatment we have not had our pets around this other dog. ok, now the real questions, how do they get tapeworms? what do you think we should do. A: Tapeworms are gotten from ingesting fleas that carry them or ingesting stool from pet who is shedding tapewormsegments. as long as not seeing any tape segments, i would not worry
Droncit -tape wormQ: I have a large male dog 14+ years old (chico) and he is quite feeble and is ailing. fleas are a problem. i normally and routinely give all my animals (3 cats & two dogs)droncit at least annually. if i see evidence of tape worms then i re-treat as necessary but not more than twice a year. i control fleas as best i can using sentinel for the dogs. i have administered sentinal to chico but am wary of the droncit. i have seen no evidence of tape worms and feel unless i do it's better to forgo the treatment. please advise if i'm on track, also advise consequences of sentinel for chico. also if i do find evidence of tapeworms should a risk the droncit? txs. jane hilsabeck A: Droncit is very safe drug so i would not worry
