My dog is losing hair!!!!!!!Q: It has been at least 2months when she started losing her hair. she has spots all over her skin with no hair on it. i don't know what to do. could you please help me? Misdiagnosis of cushingsQ: First i would like to say thank you for all of your help!!!!! this time i do not have a question but before receiving your response to my second question (you suggested an internist) i got a second opinion from another vet we used to use. he absolutely stated that based on the blood and urine tests there shows no signs of cushings at all. he believes my dog has seasonal allergies and we are trying prednisone to relieve her discomfort. if not seasonal, he thinks food or scabes (spelling) which could be accurate due to the fact that she recently spent time at a kennel. i just wanted to let people know that a second opinion is always good. i almost had to make the ultimate decision of long term debt to treat her or saying goodbye. i am glad that i spent another $100 to not have to make that decision. Fear bitingQ: We have a 9 year old female black lab who was a fear biter from the time we rescued her at 1 1/2 yrs old. we worked with a behaviorist, learned her triggers and the behavior was under control until recently. she's become more agressive and territorial and last nite attacked one of our other dogs who happened to be near zoe's bone. the dog had to be rushed to the vet with numerous wounds. zoe has been in a room by herself since the attack and growl and nips at me whenever i let her out and then try to put her back in. something needs to be done asap as i have children, cats and 3 other dogs. do you think medication would help? thanks. A: I would not rely on medications to treat this. i do not think you can risk having an aggressive dog in your house. she may have to be placed in a home where there are no children or other pets.
Tape wormsQ: We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. the cats are never outside. 2 of the dogs have been around a dog that very possibly has fleas and lives with 7 or so other cats. this "other" dog also likes to catch mice. our dogs have been known to eat droppings in the litter box, however, we also have corrected that with a new type of box and a gate on the room it is in so the dogs can't get to it, but the cats can. our groomer found tapeworms in one of the dogs 2 times now and both times we immediately treated all of our animals. since the last treatment we have not had our pets around this other dog. ok, now the real questions, how do they get tapeworms? what do you think we should do.
