Loss of badder control with age
Q: Hi! my mom took in a stray dog awhile ago. i would say that the dog is a collie mix, or maybe pure collie. it is about 8 years old. she is having a bladder control issue, she wets the bed. this only occurs while she is sleeping and she is very displeased that "some other dog" came in and wet on her bed while she was sleeping. she is soooo sweet and very smart. is there anything we can do please help. also if you can recommend some medication that would be great. she has arthritis and a small heart mummer.
A: Have urine checked by vet for infection. if none present, then ask for drug called phenylproponolamine which can help with urine incontinence

Fear biting
Q: We have a 9 year old female black lab who was a fear biter from the time we rescued her at 1 1/2 yrs old. we worked with a behaviorist, learned her triggers and the behavior was under control until recently. she's become more agressive and territorial and last nite attacked one of our other dogs who happened to be near zoe's bone. the dog had to be rushed to the vet with numerous wounds. zoe has been in a room by herself since the attack and growl and nips at me whenever i let her out and then try to put her back in. something needs to be done asap as i have children, cats and 3 other dogs. do you think medication would help? thanks.
A: I would not rely on medications to treat this. i do not think you can risk having an aggressive dog in your house. she may have to be placed in a home where there are no children or other pets.

Two medications
Q: My pet is taking clavamox would it be safe to give her cosequin
A: Should not be a problem
Malignant melanoma in dog
Q: My 15 yr old shih tzu had surgery to remove a tumor on his lip, it is malignant amelanotic melanoma. given his age and various other health concerns, we have decided to forego chemo. is there any supplements he can go on to help him? i read something about improving the quality of his life with omega 3 fatty acids and also the use of aloe vera?? i just dont want him to be in any pain. thanks.
A: I like antioxidant vitamins like c and e. e can be given at 100iu daily as well as vitamin c in form of ester c at dose of 500 mg twice daily. also omega 3's like flax seed oil at dose of 1 tea per 20 pounds of bodyweight daily
Shop for: vitamin

Toe-nails
Q: Why is my dog chewing and biting off her toe-nails; right rear paw? it's reminds me of when a person chews their finger nails!
A: Could be allergy or nervous habit
