Ask to watch dogQ: I was asked to care for a dog that was diagnosed with whipworm about 1 month ago- she is still being treated but her stool sample showed no worms is it safe to care for her i have two dogs of my own and dont want to put them at risk. the dog that has the worms has been treated for about a month- but is not done treatment yet-but stool was negative. thanks A: Should be ok but i would have all dogs on monthly interceptor which not only prevents heartworms but controls and prevents whipworms which are very hard to get rid of in environment. available at 1800petmeds Shop for: 1800petmeds, interceptor
Cushings diseaseQ: My dog patch has just been tested for cushings, his tests revealed an 19.5. my vet said she would not treat unless that level was 20. i would like to know if there was anything i could get over the counter to give him some pep or to help with his panting. he was a rescue that we have had for four years and we think he is about six or seven years old. he weighs 75 lbs. thanks, in advance for your help. A: Dogs can pant for lots of reasons from being heat intolorant(as this is way they sweat) to pain, to many others. have to address underyling cause of panting to make suggestion.
6 year old german sheppard right hind legQ: Ever since our german sheppard was attacked by another german sheppard last summer, he has had problems with his right hind leg. he's to the point now where he won't put pressure on it much. when attacked, he had a bite wound on the inner part of his leg. we took him to the vet and they gave us antibiotic and cleaned and wrapped it. it healed fine. we took him back to the vet because he was favoring his leg. they gave us an anti-inflammatory (don't have the name of it with me) for dogs. that helped a little, but we took him back for ex-rays. they showed nothing wrong. what should we do next? we can't stand seeing him hurting like this? A: You probably need to continue the therapy for a longer period of time, especially since you did notice some improvement when you did use it.
Which intercepterQ: My dog is about 60 lbs. he uses intercepter but my vet gives it to us on a card not a box. how do i know which one to order from you? karen A: You would use the interceptor "white" which is for dogs 51 - 100 pounds.
